I was going on a camping trip with some of my college buddies, and wanted to get the perfect knife for the trip. I wanted a good sharp knife, but didn't have a lot of money to spend. After spending a full day of searching the web, I finally decided to go with this knife. I heard of Smith & Wesson all my life, even seen them in old westerns. So I knew they had a reputation for their firearms, but didn't really know how their knives were. The knife came in 2 days, and I was surprised at the size and weight. It was the perfect size for a hunting knife, and the weight felt just right. The knife itself looked very beautiful, and I almost didn't want to take it on the trip just because it was so clean and smooth. However, it had to be put to the test. At camp, I had the best knife among 20 others, so of course, I had it put to use the most. It performed pretty well. I was able to cut through Salmon Fillets with the skin and everything without much effort, and was able to even trim and chop branches easily. The jagged saw portion helped cutting branches faster then a normal fully smooth knife would. The sharpness I thought was pretty good the first few days, but started to go down slightly afterwards. I have used sharper knives before that lasted a lot longer. One of my major complaints is with the sheath itself. It's quite sturdy and holds the knife well, but the button is a bit tough to snap open if you had to do it quickly. The thing that bothered me the most was that there wasn't a button or a way to take off the entire sheath for quick removal of the knife, so you would have to take your entire belt off to take the knife out. Not a fun thing doing it over and over if you decide to go into town and don't want people to see you carrying a knife in public places. A simple button on the belt side would've solved that problem. Overall, the knife performed to my expectation, and I am going to continue to use it. One additional note: Don't use cheap knife sharpners to sharpen this knife. I bought one from walmart and sharpened the kinfe a bit, and a my knife got chipped all throughout. I wish I had known, or else I would have used a better sharpner.
